COLIN WILLMOTT
I have always used colour as a main value, adding brightness and optimism.
I have found that large colourful paintings can be fully ‘at home’ whether in sitting room or office.

Many of the images lend themselves to larger canvases (max. 4′ x 5′; i.e. 120 x 150 cms.). The smaller paintings range in size from 1ft. to 3ft. (30 to 90cms).They enliven the space they are in (perhaps compensating us for the dull periods we go through; perhaps waking us up in the morning).
Much of the work evolves from experiment – the flexibility of oil paint allows change on the canvas, of colour, surface, composition etc.
It is relatively slow-drying, compared with acrylic paint, and can be ‘moved’ many hours after first being applied. Sometimes I have no clear idea of the final image, but this develops after starting a canvas. Hopefully!
